OUR MISSION
At Kīkaha, we strive to perpetuate the rich traditions of Hawaiian culture through the art of hula, stewardship of our ʻāina (land), & the uplifting of our community.
Inspired by the spirit of "kīkaha" - to soar and glide - we cultivate a space where cultural roots are honored, the land is nurtured, and individuals are empowered to rise to their fullest potential. Together, we navigate a path of connection, growth, and aloha, ensuring that the essence of Hawaiʻi thrives for generations to come.
ABOUT US
Kumu Hula Laʻakea Perry is the leader of Ke Kai O Kahiki located in Waiʻanae & Lāʻie, Oʻahu. A dedicated cultural practitioner, he carries forward the legacy of his late kumu, O'Brian Eselu, through the perpetuation of traditional hula, mele, and Hawaiian values. From the very beginning under O'Brian's guidance, hālau has always been free of charge. Laʻakea continues this tradition, allowing hula to be accessible to everyone without the worry of financial responsibility.
The hālau is recognized for its excellence in hula kahiko and its commitment to cultural education and community connection. Kumu Laʻakea inspires his haumāna to soar - embracing discipline, integrity, and aloha in Hawaiian identity.
